DCS Membership–Call for Help!

Hi DCS:

In these challenging times, I am writing to ask you to please consider renewing your membership, donating to, or sponsoring a student membership in the Division on Corrections and Sentencing (DCS) within ASC for this year. I know, given all that is going on, it is a BIG ask. But DCS needs you, so I am asking.

Our members are our strength, they are our network, they are our colleagues, and our friends. Please, if you can, do not let your ASC or DCS membership lapse…and if you are in a position to do so, help others by donating to the Ben Steiner Fund and/or sponsoring a student membership.

You can also help in other ways. For example, you can buy a Handbook (or newest one or any of our fabulous prior volumes). Right now (see attached flyer), the newest volume is deeply discounted (through August 31st). If you buy by 8/31 you can get two handbooks for just $40 (individually, they’re $25/each). If you buy two, you’ll have one for you and one to share with a student or colleague. What better way to increase the reach of our amazing research? 🙂

Additionally, for a small donation you can also become a DCS mentor to a graduate student or pre-tenured faculty member. If you donate and mentor in this way, your donation will support graduate students through your mentorship AND through the Ben Steiner fund.

What do I get, you ask?
Well, you continue to get updates and special announcements from DCS. You also get the satisfaction of helping your peers, colleagues, friends, students, and others involved with DCS in sooooo many important ways. And, please know DCS is working for you! This year, despite no in-person ASC, our committees are still hard at work to choose award winners, our newsletter is still in progress for a fall release, our mentoring is amped up with the new pre-tenure/tenured group and the cool new Alternative Academic group (for students interested in non-academic careers), and we have a new historian who is logging our history (check our website for updates soon). (Info attached, in case you missed it previously).

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me anytime. Stay well and take care.
